Evening Women

The Women’s Evening league is open to females and those who identify as female. In this multi-generational league, membership spans from university students, to working professionals, and retired people. Members’ curling abilities include those who are new to the game and those who’ve played for years. Members in this league share an interest in curling, and social fellowship both on and off the ice. Some members curl just to have fun, while others prefer more competitive play.

The season for this league runs from September through April, with a break over Christmas and in the Spring. Games are played Wednesday evenings, with game start-times alternating between 6:45 and 9:00 PM.

This is a league where people play with the same team all season. Teams require a minimum of four members (five person teams are allowed). If teams have less than four members, the league conveners can help find appropriate team members (teams require three members to start the season). For those looking to join a team, the league conveners will attempt to place them on a team.

Teams are divided into flights and placement is based on their performance. There are a number of round robin draws over the course of the season. Teams move between flights at the end of each draw based on their round robin performance. New teams are placed in the bottom flight to start the season.

New curlers

New curlers are most welcome to join this league! For those with no previous curling experience it is strongly encouraged that you take part in one of the Beginner Clinics run by Leaside Curling Club during the first week of the season (mid-September). Those new to the game are welcome to use the Club’s equipment (brooms and step-on sliders) but would need to bring a pair of clean indoor shoes and wear warm, loose-fitting clothing (no jeans) and gloves.
