Hi Everyone,
Firstly, I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting the Monday Open Skins League. Some of you have been in the section for more than 20 years, and some were new members just this last season, but I do hope you’ve enjoyed your games, and made some new friends along the way.
To wrap-up the season, I have made the final update to the Skins Playoff Results, and also included a tribute to our winning teams, just take a look at the Skins INFO page.
As I said at the Closing, I do plan to run the League next season, but I am also looking at gradually “easing away” from this responsibility, so if you, or anyone you know, is interested in taking over this role, I would be happy to help mentor my potential successor.
In my remarks on the Closing night, I also brought up the subject of sponsorship, most specifically for the awarding of the prizes for the Season Aggregate. However, it became apparent in the discussions that there is also a possibility of sponsoring the post-game snacks.
I’ve been giving this idea some thought, and raised a number of options that could be suitable for sponsorship, so here are some suggestions I can offer…..
1) Aggregate Award - historically this has been $250 per season, but if it can increase to $300 that gives a convenient prizing split of 1st place $150, 2nd place $100 and 3rd place $50.
2) Post-game snacks for a full draw - currently my costs for chips are approx $50 per week, so covering a full draw of 7 weeks would be $350. This might be something one or more teams could combine to contribute.
3) Post-game snacks for one evening - $50-$60, allowing for price increases.
In the case of options 2 and 3 above, I would still take care of purchasing snacks, and you would reimburse the section.
I’m sure there may be one or two other opportunities, but they don’t come to mind at the moment (I’m in post-curling mode now, haha!)
Quite a few of you expressed some interest in being sponsors, so I thank you for that. As I was handling a number of items that evening, I didn’t make a list of those people who chatted to me about sponsoring, but if you are still willing to pursue that, or just chat about it some more, please reach out directly to me at [email protected]
If you know that your team line-up is changing next season, please feel free to contact me to give me advance warning, and this will help me greatly when it becomes time to start building next season’s roster.
In closing, have a great summer !
Cheers, Mike
