We carry a wide selection of broom heads for all of your curling needs!

We are happy to provide a wide array of items for both beginner and experienced curlers. Located in the office, the Pro Shop offers grippers, gloves, curling shoes, brooms, broom heads, and more from Goldline, Asham, BalancePlus, and Hardline.

We also offer refurbished broom heads from one of our club members, Jimmy MacMillan, in a variety of styles and colours. We are happy to accept any old broom heads for refurbishment in the office.

(1) YOUTH PROGRAMS: there are three leagues for youth members.

(a) Little Rocks (ages 7-12; Thursday 4:30 pm to 6 pm): annual fee of $96 (+HST) plus prize fund of $20
(b) Bantam (ages 13-15; Sunday 9:30 am to 11:30 am plus additional practice sessions (see below)): annual fee of $118 (+HST) plus prize fund of $20
(c) Junior (ages 16-20; Sunday 9:30 am to 11:30 am plus additional practice sessions (see below)): annual fee of $118 (+HST) plus prize fund of $20

***The Bantam / Junior program includes 10 hours of additional ice time on selected Wednesday afternoons from 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm.  Coaches will be on hand to provide instruction. 

(2) ADULT PROGRAMS

Each member is charged an annual membership fee.  Each member is also charged a playing fee for each league in which he/she plays. In addition, most leagues collect a prize fund.  

For 2021/22, the annual membership fee will be $71 (before addition of HST)Playing fees vary depending on the leagues in which one plays as well as the number of leagues in which one plays.

(i) Category A: The playing fee is $377 for each of the following leagues:

  • Monday Open Skins
  • Tuesday Evening Men
  • Wednesday Evening Women
  • Thursday Evening Men
  • Weekend Mixed
  • Sunday Open

If you play in two of these leagues, the playing fee for the second league is $188.50 (+HST).
If you play in three of these leagues, the playing fee for the third league is $113.40 (+HST).
If you play in four of these leagues, the playing fee for the fourth league is $113.40 (+HST).

(ii) Category B: The playing fee is $228 for each of the following leagues:

  • Monday Daytime Men
  • Monday Afternoon Women
  • Tuesday Morning Women
  • Tuesday Afternoon Women
  • Wednesday Open Skins
  • Wednesday Daytime Men
  • Thursday Daytime Women (team entry)
  • Friday Daytime Men

If you play in two of these leagues, the playing fee for the second league is $114 (+HST).
If you play in three of these leagues, the playing fee for the third league is $68.40 (+HST).
If you play in four of these leagues, the playing fee for the fourth league is $68.40 (+HST).

If you play in a combination of leagues in categories A and B above, then playing fees will be charged as follows:

  • If you play in only one of the leagues in Category A, then you will pay $114 (+HST) for the first league in category B in which you play, $68.40 (+HST) for the second league in Category B in which you play, and $68.40 (+HST) for the 3rd league in Category B in which you play. Any additional games played in a Category B league are at no charge.
  • If you play in two of the leagues in Category A, then you will pay $68.40 (+HST) for the first league in category B in which you play and $68.40 (+HST) for the second league in Category B in which you play. Any additional games played in a Category B league are at no charge.
  • If you play in three of the leagues in Category A, then you will pay $68.40 (+HST) for the first league in Category B in which you lay. Any additional games played in a Category B league are at no charge

(iii) Pizza League: The playing fee for the pizza league is $254 (plus HST) if it is the only league in which you play. If you play in at least one other league, the playing fee for the pizza league is $127 (+HST).

(iv) Super 7 Saturday Starter Series: The playing fee for the Super 7 Saturday Starter Series is $92.

(v) Open Doubles Series: The playing fee for the Open Doubles Series is $67.


Prize Fund

Most sections charge a prize fund. Prize funds are collected at time of registration and are not subject to HST.

The prize fund for the various leagues is as follows (changes from 2019/20 are highlighted in yellow):

  • Monday Afternoon Women: $15
  • Monday Skins: $0 for those who were members in 2019/20; $45 for new members to the section 
  • Tuesday Morning Women: $15
  • Tuesday Afternoon Women: $15
  • Tuesday Evening Men: $20
  • Wednesday Open Skins: $30 (note: covers both prize and luncheon)
  • Wednesday Evening Women: $10
  • Thursday Daytime Women (team entry): $15
  • Thursday Evening Men: $20
  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday Daytime Men: $30 (note: prize fund charged only once, whether member plays once or twice per week. Also covers luncheon costs)
  • Weekend Mixed: $20
  • Super 7 Saturday Starter Series: $25
  • Open Doubles: $10
  • Sunday Open: $0 for those who were members in 2019/20; $35 for new members to the section
  • Sunday Pizza: $21

(3) OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST

Leave of Absence (LOA):  This category of membership is available only to those who were members of Leaside Curling Club during 2019/20 who are choosing to not curl during the 2021/22 season but who want to retain their status as a returning member for the 2022/23 season.  As a LOA member, you do not have any on-ice privileges during the season, but you will have full voting rights.

Student discount: if you are between the ages of 21 and 24 inclusive and you sign up to play in an evening / weekend league (other than the pizza league), or if you participate on a university- or college-sanctioned team that signs up to play in one of the above leagues, then your total fees, with a valid student card, will be reduced by an amount of $206 + HST. This discount is applied to the first evening league only.

You may sign up for a Spare Only Membership. This allows you to sign up and play as a spare in games in any league in which you are eligible to play. The cost is $337.87 ($71 membership fee + $228 playing fee plus HST). If you sign up for a permanent position in any league, additional pro-rated fees will apply including applicable prize funds.

You can sign up for a Practice Membership. Individuals selecting a Practice Membership will be able to book practice ice in accordance with regular club guidelines. They will not be able to play or spare in any of our regular leagues. The cost for a practice membership is $189 + HST.

There is also an Adult Competitive Membership, which allows a curler to join a team representing Leaside CC in OCA competitions (note: curlers are responsible for ensuring the category of membership they have selected satisfies OCA requirements). The cost is $19.95. A competitive member does not have playing privileges at the club; refer to the club website for the complete competitive membership policy.

There is also a Competitive Youth Membership. The cost is $19.95. These requirements are identical as for the Adult Competitive Membership.

Lastly, if you are unable to curl but would like to support Leaside Curling Club, you may sign up as a Social Member for $30 plus HST. A social member does not have any playing or practice privileges at the club.

Lockers: At this time, we do not expect the locker rooms to be open for the 2021/22 season due to covid-19 restrictions.

(iv) Super 7 Saturday Starter Series: The playing fee for the Super 7 Saturday Starter Series is $92.

(v) Open Doubles Series (note: the open doubles has 10 weeks of play scheduled, up from 7 last season): The playing fee for the Open Doubles Series is $95.


Prize Fund

Finally, for the daytime women's leagues (ie. Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning, Tuesday afternoon, and Thursday team entry), a Coffee Fund of $10 will be collected at time of registration. The fee will be charged for each league in which you are registered.

 

(3) OTHER ITEMS OF INTEREST

Lockers:There are a limited number of lockers  available at the Club. The cost for a locker is $40 plus HST. Returning members who had a locker in 2019/20 will be able to automatically renew their locker provided we receive their application no later than August 5. All returning or new members will be placed on a waiting list; determination and distribution of lockers to those on the waiting list will be made completed in September once we know how many lockers are available. Lockers must be emptied upon the season end in April. Please note that lockers will not be issued to someone who registers as a Spare or Practice member. Also, those who are registered as a member of only the Super 7 Saturday Starter Series or the Open Doubles series will be given lower priority for lockers than those who play in a full-season league.


A full refund will be provided if you make a written request to withdraw prior to the end of October. After October 31st, a prorated refund of section fees and HST only (which excludes membership fees of $71.19 and prize fund fees) is available (at the Board’s discretion) if the member is unable to participate due to medical reasons or relocation. Please submit a written request to the Treasurer. A $25 administration fee will be deducted from the amount being refunded.


Named after one of our founding members, this award was initiated as a tribute to members during our 25th anniversary year. It is given annually to a club member who exemplifies the aims and objectives of the Leaside Curling Club. A member is only eligible to receive the award once.

• To foster friendly relations amongst members of the club.
• To preserve the traditions of the game of curling.
• To cooperate with other clubs in the interest of fellowship and curling.
• To encourage participation by all members in all the club activities.
• To maintain membership in curling associations

All adult members in good standing, with the exception of Social, Competitive, and Spare-only members, are eligible to submit nominations in writing (including your own name) to the club office, addressed to the Secretary of the Executive (Board of Directors). Members can only receive the award a single time. The award is presented at the Annual General Meeting.
